Who are the Best Candidates for Facelift?

There are a number of reasons someone might want a facelift, but most patients are seeking to:

  • Lift sagging skin, muscles, and fat in the face and neck
  • Firm up a lax jawline and jowls
  • Smooth crease lines along the nose, mouth, and chin
  • Restore a more youthful shape to the face

People with some wrinkling and sagging in the skin of their lower face and neck but whose skin still retains some elasticity will generally see the most improvement from a facelift. Dr. Yee will evaluate you during your consultation and offer suggestions to achieve the best possible results. Depending on your age and other factors, she might recommend non-surgical cosmetic procedures, such as injectable fillers, either to complement the facelift or as an alternative to surgery.

What to Expect

Procedure Facelift
Description We at Baker Plastic Surgery are known for the technique and artistry of our facelifts. Dr. Yee takes a modern approach to facelift surgery, which produces a remarkably younger yet natural look for their patients.
Facelift surgery involves lifting underlying tissues in the face and redraping the facial and neck skin. Fat may be removed or sculpted to recreate youthful contours.
A facelift may take several hours or longer, depending on whether or not other cosmetic procedures are incorporated. The length of the surgery will also vary based on which facelift techniques are employed. You and Dr. Yee will discuss which method is best for you during the consultation.
Recovery Your recovery from a facelift will be influenced by several factors. Post-operative pain will usually disappear after a day or two and is easily managed with prescription or over-the-counter medication. Normal swelling and bruising will improve gradually. Most patients need about two weeks for the most visible signs of surgery to fade. It may take several weeks for you to feel “normal,” although most patients return to social activities sometime during the second week.
